How to convert an animated GIF to WebP
Convert animated GIFs to animated WebP for free while keeping frames and timing. Adjust quality and download in your browser. No signup, installation or file upload.
- Select or paste your GIF files. WebP output is already selected.
- Choose a quality level and convert. The GIF frames are processed together to preserve the animation and frame timing.
- Save the WebP and check that your destination supports animated WebP. Download multiple results together as a ZIP.
Will WebP be smaller than GIF?
It depends on the content, number of frames and quality. A smaller file is not guaranteed: compare the original and output sizes shown after conversion. Reducing quality may save space but can change the image.
Why does my result look still?
GIF input keeps its animation when saved as WebP. JPG, PNG and AVIF outputs save only the first frame. A viewer without animated WebP support may also display a still image.
What if a large GIF fails?
A small compressed file can use a lot of memory once its frames are decoded. Process one file at a time or reduce the original frame count or dimensions. Re-converting animated WebP input currently saves only its first frame.
